Ceiling fans keep rooms comfortable year-round and can lower cooling costs in hot Illinois summers. RP Electric installs new and replacement ceiling fans for homeowners in Geneseo and throughout the Quad Cities.
A safe fan installation starts with a fan-rated box. Standard light boxes aren't designed for the weight and motion of a fan, which can lead to wobbling or worse. We install proper supports, balance the fan, and make sure everything is secure.
Where there's no existing fixture, we can run new wiring and add a wall switch or separate fan and light controls. We also handle high and sloped ceilings, outdoor-rated porch fans and remote or smart controls.

Check Support and Controls Before Choosing a Fan
A ceiling fan needs a support system designed for a fan, not simply a box that previously held a light fixture. The weight and movement make that distinction important. Before purchasing, consider the ceiling height, slope and room size, and review the manufacturer's mounting requirements. A large fan can be unsuitable for a small room even if it physically fits, while an outdoor installation needs a fan rated for the conditions it will face.
For a Geneseo or Quad Cities home, tell Rick whether you are replacing a fan, replacing a light or adding a fan where there is no wiring. Those are different scopes. Existing switch wiring may support a combined control but not separate fan and light switches without changes. Some models rely on a remote or integrated controller. Ordinary lighting dimmers should not be assumed suitable for a fan motor; use the controls specified for the equipment.
Have the complete fan, downrod and intended controls available before the visit, and keep the instructions with the equipment. Access to an attic can affect options when a new support or cable route is needed. After installation, review direction, speed and lighting controls and retain remote-pairing information. If a fan develops significant wobble, noise or a loose mount, stop using it and arrange an assessment rather than continuing to operate it at a lower speed.
