Charging an electric vehicle on a standard outlet can take days. A Level 2 home charger adds a full day's driving range in just a few hours — and RP Electric installs them for homeowners throughout Geneseo, Moline, Rock Island and the surrounding area.
We install chargers from Tesla, ChargePoint, Emporia, Grizzl-E, Ford, GM and others, as well as NEMA 14-50 outlets for plug-in units. Every installation starts with a look at your panel and service to make sure there's capacity for a 40-, 48- or 60-amp circuit without overloading your home.
If your panel is full or your service is undersized, we'll explain your options: a panel upgrade, a 200-amp service upgrade, or a load-managing charger that shares capacity with the rest of your home. Detached garage? We can run a feeder and subpanel too.

Planning a Convenient Home Charging Location
Your daily driving and parking arrangement are useful starting points for EV charging. Consider which side of the vehicle has the charging port, how the cable will reach it and whether the garage is shared with another car. Avoid a location that encourages running a cable across a walkway or closing a door on it. The fastest charger setting is not automatically necessary for overnight charging, and the available electrical capacity needs to be checked before choosing a circuit.
For a Geneseo or Quad Cities home, provide the charger model, its installation instructions and the intended mounting location. Hardwired equipment and receptacle-connected equipment have different installation requirements. Circuit rating, conductor sizing and protective devices must match the actual equipment and applicable requirements. A dryer outlet, adapter or extension cord is not a substitute for evaluating a suitable dedicated charging circuit.
Distance from the panel, access through finished walls and detached-garage routing can affect the scope. Discuss potential load-management options when capacity is limited rather than assuming every home requires a new service. After installation, retain the instructions and understand the configured charging limit. If an app controls scheduling, confirm the charging session works with your vehicle before relying on it for the next commute; the electrical installation and app configuration are separate parts of the experience.
