Wiring is the part of your electrical system you never see — until something goes wrong. RP Electric handles general wiring, new circuits and rewiring for homes, garages and shops in Geneseo and throughout the Quad Cities.
Older homes in our area may still have knob-and-tube, cloth-insulated or ungrounded wiring, or circuits that have been added onto for decades. We assess what you have, explain the risks honestly and recommend practical updates — sometimes a full rewire, often a targeted fix.
We also run new dedicated circuits for appliances, window or mini-split AC units, sump pumps, freezers, workshops, welders, hot tubs and home offices, and wire detached garages and pole barns with feeders and subpanels.

Define What the New Wiring Needs to Supply
General wiring can mean a single new circuit, a partial rewire or power to a detached structure. Begin with the equipment and spaces involved rather than a proposed wire size. Voltage, load, distance and installation conditions all affect the design. Provide manufacturer information for machinery, heaters or other large equipment, and explain whether additional loads may be added later. A circuit that serves today's tool may not suit a different machine purchased next year.
At a Henry County or Quad Cities property, cable routes often determine how disruptive a job will be. Accessible basements, attics and unfinished walls offer different options from finished rooms. Detached buildings introduce feeder, grounding and underground-route considerations that go beyond adding an outlet. Underground utility locating must happen before excavation. An extension cord used as a permanent supply is not a replacement for a properly designed building circuit.
For older homes, discuss whether work should be completed at once or in coordinated phases. New wiring must connect to suitable equipment, and replacing one section does not establish the condition of everything that remains. Ask which circuits will be interrupted, which areas need access and who handles finish repairs. At completion, retain the updated directory and relevant inspection records. Clear documentation makes future improvements easier without relying on someone to remember concealed cable routes.
